Gallmeyer & Livingston is dedicated to the idea that precision is the most important product we offer. To achieve this precision, all Gallmeyer grinders are hand scraped by skilled craftsmen. Every model is then thoroughly tested by our experienced technicians to ensure that each meets the most exacting standards in the industry.
To assure true flatness, we test the table in two directions, using a straight edge as an independent reference point. This is a far more demanding test than the "five block test," which measures parallelism. A flat machine is needed to grind large parts that will be truly flat (they will not rock on another flat surface) extremely important for super precision tool, die, jig, and fixture work.
